Hey guys c: Wow, I'm awkward at starting things like this so I'll just jump straight to the point: I'm looking to buy a drawing tablet. As I have no experience in this whatsoever, I'm looking to the dA community to give me a little weigh in.

My only criteria for the tablet is:
- Must be under $150
- Working area of at least 6x8 (larger the better)

I've been looking at Wacoms, especially the Bamboo, but I've been hearing things about wiring issues and no erase buttons on their pens.
I also took a peek at Monoprice tablets, but according to some reviews they aren't compatible with SAI.

As far as programs go, I don't even know where to begin. I'm looking for one that is preferably free. (I'm just getting into all this so the less money I spend, the better) I've been recommended SAI, but wasn't given any reasons to why.

I really appreciate any and all input, and look forward to joining the ranks of digital artists.

FireAlpaca's a decent program, and it's free. ouo I use it for most of my artwork (if not all).
Also, Wacoms are decent; I use an Intuos 5 or something.
I used to have the Bamboo Fun, I think, and it was okay while it worked. xD I think I've gone through three different tablets now.
There might have been a few difficulties with the Bamboo Fun, but I can't really remember, since it was quite a while ago. I think I had to unplug it and plug it in again, if I can remember correctly. That might have been my other broken tablet, though. xD
